Katamaran Hotel & Resort on Waecicu Beach, Labuan Bajo

CHOOSING A BASE · FLORES

Island Resort or Labuan Bajo

There are no hotels on Komodo Island. Everything else follows from that one fact.

Ask Which Suits You

In short

The property people call "Komodo Resort" is on Pulau Sebayur Besar, outside the national park boundary. Labuan Bajo on Flores is the alternative, and it is a town rather than a resort.

  • Island resorts include every meal in the rate, which is why the headline number looks high.
  • Labuan Bajo spans hostels to five-star; top-tier rooms with meals run USD 400–700 a night.
  • From town you can walk to dinner and pick your own operator. From an island you cannot.
  • Park entry is IDR 700,000 — about USD 43 — per person either way.

What Each Base Gives You

Three differences that decide it, in the order they usually matter.

01

Seclusion

An island resort is 25 rooms and nothing else within a boat ride. Labuan Bajo is a working harbour town with traffic, restaurants and other travellers.

02

What the rate covers

Island rates include every meal, which is why they look high and often are not. In Labuan Bajo you pay for the room and eat where you like.

03

Flexibility

From town you can change plans, walk to dinner and pick a different operator. From an island you are on the resort boat schedule.

We quote the actual property for your dates rather than publish a rate card that moves with the season.
